There are many tools for creating avatars now. Marcia shared this site: http://www.buildyourwildself.com/
I used the tool at this site to create this:

For fun, I typed "build an avatar" in my Google search window and came up with several pages of links (see below the asterisks).
You may use these tools if you like for your final project. You might want to do a less "wild" one than above, since you will want to be able to use the avatar in future classes. Your Avatar can be anything you like though!
